Loss Summary
Many losses such as losing a car or a good bed can be remedied. The area that is hardest to resolve are
losses associated with Crime. In 2004 we
were convicted of a misdemeanor DUI (2003) and as a result we lost our
part-time job as a substitute teacher.
The day of the DUI even though we had alcohol in our system we had an
adverse reaction to Viagra. In 2012 we
were convicted of a misdemeanor DUI (2012) and were sentenced to 45 days in
county jail. During the course of our
stay we lost ground with: Housing, Mental Health, Physical Health and Cognitive
Functioning. When we were released
(freed) we gave up our formal advisory gig with the Orange County Health Care
Agency’s Technology Advisory Committee.
Misdemeanors and incarcerations are for most practical purposes not
truly reversible. Very few things went
right in 2012 for we lost far more than we gained.

Life Change Units
(Approach)
A Life Change Unit (LCU)
is a numerical point value assigned to a specific life event on the Holmes-Rahe Stress Scale (also called the Social
Readjustment Rating Scale) to measure stress and predict health risks.
How the Scale Works
Created in 1967:
Psychiatrists
Thomas Holmes and Richard Rahe asked thousands of people to rank how much social readjustment various life
events required.
Scored 0 to 100:
The death of a
spouse is the highest stressor at 100 units. Minor law infractions (like a traffic ticket) are the lowest at 11
units.
Cumulative Impact:
You add up the
LCU scores for every major event you experienced in the past 12
months.
Interpreting Your Score
According to the Holmes-Rahe
model, higher totals mean a greater risk of falling ill from stress within the next two years:
Under 150 units:
Slight or low
risk of a stress-induced health breakdown.
150 to 299 units:
Moderate risk
(about a 50% chance) of a major health issue.
300+ units:
High risk
(about an 80% chance) of a major health crisis.
FYI – AI – If you’d like, you can
share: Events you experienced over the past
year. I can help you estimate your total Life Change Units and assess your cumulative stress level.

Holmes & Rahe on Stress AMB Life Change Units (Applied)
Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale
Holmes and Rahe found that a
score of 150 gives you a 50-50 chance of developing illness. A score of 300+ fives you a 90% chance of
developing an illness, having an accident or “blowing up”. Notice that
“positive times” like Christmas, marriage and vacations are stressful. Multiply event by the number of times you
have experienced it in the last year.

value used to measure the importance, effectiveness, or potential outcome of a
project, product feature, scientific, or business initiative. It helps prioritize resources, assess
sustainability or evaluate academic, research, or clinical outcomes
(e.g., concussion care).
2012 V 2024 – CloZAPine Gaps
Not having Clozapine in 2012 is associated with a hospitalization
for Buster. In 2012 Diana M.
(Caseworker) and Bum Soo Lee (Psychiatrist) both approved discontinuing Invega
in lieu of CloZAPine. In 2024 we were
put on Invega Sustenna again. Doctor and
we decided to stop it on August 21, 2024 (W) (Consensus). Conclusion: A monthly Invega injection cannot
substitute for our nightly CloZAPine.

Gains in 2012 Offset – 12 Gains (2024)
Quickly we gained some ground in 2012.
On July 1st, 2012 we had our last drink of alcohol
(beer). As of 2024 we now have 12 years
clean and sober. In 2012 Kevin our older
brother helped us attend a MADD meeting which we couldn’t have attended without
him. We moved into a Good Bed at Shank’s
Guest Home. We gained competency riding
the bus. We revived our relationship
with our mother’s sister Aunt Joyce. We
linked Joan, our Most Significant Other Ever (MSOE), with our Aunt Joyce. We maintained our overnighters with
Joan. Some family members including Aunt
Joyce and Christine our sister gave us money.
We began our association with the best care coordinator ever Oswaldo
Escalante. Charley our brother-in-law picked us up on release day from Theo
Lacy. If it were not for him we would
not have linked with Westminster Superior Court. Aunt Joyce helps Joan and us out. Lastly, our Medi-Cal was sustained via
redetermination. Chapman Board &
Care stole some of our property including a leather jacket and karaoke
setup. The items in this paragraph are
some of our 12 gains. Overall in 2012 we
lost about 22 things.

2012 – Started OK
For Buster 2012 seemed to start out OK.
After successfully taking 10 or so units at Cypress College for fall
semester of 2011 he enrolled again starting January 2012. In fall 2011 he earned a 4.0 GPA. Then a series of losses transpired. His insurance denied payment for his monthly
CloZAPine driven CBC lab work. He was
still having difficulty getting good sleep.
His great Rent a Shared Roommate (RASR) Raul Romero had passed
away. The replacement RASR made it
difficult to get rest and sleep. Buster
called the paramedics and was transported from Anaheim to South Laguna. After about three days Buster was released to
the streets. He made it back to Anaheim
by bus. Unless Buster found a Better Bed
his pattern has it that he would be re-hospitalized. He was transported to Huntington Beach
Hospital then Western Med Anaheim (WMA).
He was released from WMA to Brand New Day. Brand New Day temporally placed him at Shanks
Truck Stop.

FYI - World Wafers - Live Aide & Famine Relief
Live Aid was a pair of massive
concerts held on July 13, 1985, with the primary goal of raising funds and
awareness for famine relief in
Ethiopia. Organized by Bob Geldof, the event featured over 70 musical
acts and was broadcast to a global audience of an estimated 1.5 billion. The
concerts took place simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London and JFK Stadium
in Philadelphia.

How is it re-hospitalization?
Re-hospitalization (or readmission) is the unplanned return to a hospital for inpatient care, often within 30 days of a previous discharge for the same or a related condition. It often stems from issues like complex medication routines, lack of follow-up care, or insufficient support at home.
